This is a very popular project as it is suitable for KS2 children. This project incorporates a complex frame structure whilst creating your own bracing to support the structure. It also allows children to use a secondary structural feature incorporating a shell structure to the design. This project also includes an electrical circuit incorporating a LED powered by a battery clip.

Step by step instructions will also be provided to help ensure both teacher and child fully understand and maximise this project!

This material pack includes the Hepp DT design portfolio that covers the design, make, evaluate and technical knowledge aspects of the project. Children can also use a variety of embellishments to ‘finish’ their item appropriately (please note, we do not provide embellishments and paint). Children are particularly successful at finding random ‘bits and pieces’ to add to the base of the Anderson Shelter to improve their design. We offer ‘off cuts of materials’ free of charge to help with this (find it in the resource shop).

To be able to cut the jelutong to the correct length, you will need junior hacksaws, bench hooks and g-clamps. If you do not have these tools in school, please select the ‘components pre-cut’ option at checkout.

Each material pack comes with sandpaper and PVA wood adhesive as standard.
