Create a beautifully designed WW1 inspired aircraft which combines a structure with a series of mechanisms (wheels, axles and pivot). This project is perfect for both Key Stage 1 and 2 children as it allows creativity, design and the understanding of mechanisms whilst covering history topics of WW1 and WW2. This project allows children fully creativity as they can embellish their aircraft with suitable design choices.

Description

Each material pack comes with the following components:

  • Pine softwood for the body of the plane

This is a perfect project for both KS1 and KS2 children as it covers structures and mechanisms (wheels, axles and pivots).

This material pack includes the Hepp DT design portfolio that covers the design, make, evaluate and technical knowledge aspects of the project as well as step by step instructions and videos to teach it successfully.

To be able to cut the dowel to the correct length, you will need junior hacksaws, bench hooks and g-clamps. If you do not have these tools in school, please select the ‘components pre-cut’ option at checkout. You will need the use of a hammer to hammer the nail into the front of the plane so the propellor spins.

Each material pack comes with sandpaper and PVA wood adhesive as standard.
