Each material pack comes with all components needed to make the perfect bird box or animal habitat! This is a perfect EYFS and Key Stage 1 project as it links perfectly with the wider curriculum and Science when studying the natural environment and the habitats of animals.
Throughout this project, children will have an opportunity to explore existing products, design their product and use tools such as sandpaper and wood adhesive to make their piece.
Description
Each material pack comes with the following components:
- Plywood roof, base and sides
- 5mm dowel for perch
- Metal eyes

Each material pack comes with all components needed to make the perfect bird box / animal habitat! This material pack includes the Hepp DT design portfolio that covers the design, make, evaluate and technical knowledge aspects of the project.
This is a perfect EYFS and Key Stage 1 project as it links perfectly with the wider curriculum and Science when studying the natural environment and the habitats of animals.
Children will have the opportunity to use tools such as junior hacksaws, bench hooks and g-clamps when cutting the dowel for the perch. If your school does not have such tools, please select the ‘pre-cut’ option at checkout.
This project is perfect to allow children the opportunity to explore a variety of different finishing techniques – coloured pencils and paint work very well to add a splash of colour to this product as well as more complicating techniques such as decoupage.
Please note, finishing techniques are not supplied in the material pack.
Each material pack comes with sandpaper and PVA wood adhesive as standard.
